Product Information

Original MARS Coat King, this curry-comb consists of a fine wooden handle (Bubinga, FSC certified) and rust free, tempered high-grade steel blade. In this product the blades are completely changeable as the head! The special geometry of the blades guarantees a good penetration in to the fur with proper use, you can effectively and neatly remove around 90% of the loose dead hair with it. Simple application: put on the fur with a subtle pressure, eventually hold against it with the other hand and comb out in the direction of growth (in long strokes) and then remove the hairs from the blade with your hand.

Note: going against or aside hair growth will cause excessive cutting of hair. Only use once a week or every other week. (Too much use could result in a bald pet!)

How To Pick the Right Coat King

Some general guidelines in selecting the correct size Mars Coat King:

  • Dog breeds with a very soft coat, the more blades the better.
  • Dog breeds with a long coat, the more blades the better.
  • Dog breeds with a very short coat, the more blades the better.
  • Dog breeds with a matted coat, start with a Coat-King with less blades and finish with one that has more blades.
  • Dog breeds with coarse or wiry hair, use a coarse Coat-King with less blades.


When deciding if you would like to purchase an Original Coat King or the Double Wide Coat King, please remember that they have the same function, they are just wider. If you have a large dog, it may be faster to groom with the Double-Wide.  Please see the table below for the equivalent spacing between the Original and the Double Wide: 

  • Original 6-Blade has the same spacing as the Double-Wide 12-Blade
  • Original 10-Blade has the same spacing as the Double-Wide 18-Blade
  • Original 12-Blade has the same spacing as the Double-Wide 23-Blade
  • Original 20-Blade has the same spacing as the Double-Wide 30-Blade
