Dr Jack Ayerbe

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)

Dr. Jack Ayerbe graduated as a veterinarian from Melbourne University in 1969. After working for a time in general practice in Melbourne, he moved to the United Kingdom and then on to Ireland where he made many lifelong friends and expanded his veterinary experience.

In 1974 Jack returned to Australia and established Newtown Veterinary Practice in Geelong. The practice currently employs seven veterinarians.

In 2012 Jack sold the practice to his colleagues. However, he continues to consult at the clinic on a regular basis.

About Dr Jack Ayerbe

Jack Ayerbe has been a practicing veterinarian for nearly fifty-five years. Over that time he has been involved in many community activities including as a school governor, a city councillor, and a member of many committees and boards.

In 1995 Jack was made an honorary life member of the RSPCA and in 2005 was presented with a meritorious award. He has served as patron for the Schnauzer society of Victoria and the Cow-Chow society of Victoria and, as a director of the public company Qbiotics. Although no longer a member of the board Jack still consults to the company.

For many years Jack has been on many Animal Ethics Committees and for a time ran courses in that area for the state government for aspiring members of various committees. He is currently still involved in that discipline.

Throughout his career, Jack has always had a presence in the media. He has written numerous articles for newspapers and magazines and for many years presented as the “talk back veterinarian” on 3AW.

Jack is still practicing as a veterinarian in Geelong, Victoria, and has retained his love and respect for animals and the veterinary profession.
