Product Information

Low lactose emergency milk formula that can be used for a range of different species including puppies, kittens, lambs, piglets, calves, foals, cria, marsupials and zoo animals.

Formula One is a superior low-lactose milk product because it is made from fortified

profile compared to cow’s milk products.

We recommend to use Formula One as an emergency milk replacer for any species
of animal until the correct species-specific Wombaroo milk can be administered.

  • Easy to Use – Highly digestible and easily mixed.
  • High in Whey Proteins – For enhanced growth of young animals.
  • Improved Nutrition – Added omega-3 & 6, vitamins, minerals and taurine.

Feeding Guidelines

Use Formula One for orphaned animals or when mother’s milk is limited. Success in hand-rearing greatly improves if animals receive colostrum within 24 hours of birth. Newborns that don’t get colostrum from the mother can be fed Impact Colostrum Supplement.

Making up Milk - Normal Strength

Mix 1 scoop of powder (7g) with 50ml of preboiled warm water.

To make 1 litre of milk mix 125g of powder (approx. 18 level scoops) with 900ml of preboiled warm water.

Add half the water to the powder first and mix to a paste. Then add the remaining water and mix thoroughly. Pre-boil the water to ensure that it is sterilised. If the water is too hot it can cause the milk to curdle. If it is too cold then it will be difficult to disperse the powder. An electric whisk can be used for mixing. Milk can be stored in the fridge for a day or can be frozen for up to two weeks.

Feeding

Warm milk to about 35°C. Feed from a bottle with teat, a range of Wombaroo Teats are available for smaller mammals. Lamb and calf teats are available from most fodder stores for larger animals. Initially feed at normal strength to ensure the milk is tolerated. For improved weight gain, slowly increase the milk to one and a half times normal strength: 1 scoop to 35mL of water (188g of powder plus 850mL of water to make 1 litre).  If the animal develops diarrhoea, reduce the formula strength. To avoid dehydration during periods of hot weather give young a drink of pre-boiled water between feeds. Always offer drinking water once animals become mobile. Consult your veterinarian or breeder for particular advice about caring for your breed of animal.

Growth

Weigh young animals regular to verify weight gains and to determine feed volumes. Ensure that weight gain is in line with that which would be expected for the species in care. Consult a veterinarian if satisfactory weight gain is not being achieved. Formula One is not designed as a specific milk replacer for any particular species, so better growth rates may be achieved by using a species specific Wombaroo Milk Replacer.
